March might be a tad chilly, but that doesn’t stop Philly from putting on its finest. Don’t wait for spring to arrive to get out and see the sights, especially with so much going on. Forget the cold and get out and about this March in Philadelphia – there’s plenty to do, and these are just a few of the many events that you might count yourself lucky enough to attend:
Philadelphia Craft Beer Festival (Saturday, March 7)
If you love a good brew, then don’t even think about missing the 2020 Philadelphia Craft Beer Festival. This isn’t your average craft beer festival, folks. USA Today styled it as one of the “10 Best Beer Festivals in the U.S.” and Forbes Traveler calls it one of the “Top 10 Beer Festivals in America.” USA Today and Forbes Traveler agree – it’s a one of a kind craft beer celebration.
Winter weather won’t be getting in the way of the Philly Craft Beer Fest – it’ll be held at Building 611 in the Philadelphia Navy Yard, rain, snow or shine. Regardless of your tastes in beer, there will be something there for you to love – expect to see locals like Flying Fish, Conshohocken Brewing Company, Cape May Brewing Co., Manayunk Brewing Company and many more well represented. There will be over 50 local and national craft brewers serving up 150 different flavors and styles of suds.
It’s not just beer, either – it’s a chance to hang with friends and play some backyard games like cornhole and giant Jenga. There will even be ax-throwing by the Throw House on-premise so you can try out some new skills.
By the way, if there’s one way to build up an appetite, it’s drinking good beer and ax-throwing. Make a day out of the craft beer fest and stop by our waterfront restaurant or one of our other locations before you call it a night.
Philadelphia St. Patrick’s Day Parade (Saturday, March 15)
Everyone’s Irish on St. Patrick’s day, and if you miss the Philly Craft Beer Show there won’t be any excuse for you not to get out and celebrate your Hibernian roots during the Philadelphia St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Those who say that television offers the best seats in the house have obviously never been to the Philly St. Patty’s Day Parade. Make arrangements to get out today.
This year, the parade will proceed eastward from the staging area along John F. Kennedy Blvd, around City Hall and east on Market Street, down Front Street toward the bus pick up on Dock Street, so you can find a place along that route to take in the sights. The performing area will be on the north side of Market Street just East of S 6th Street. You can expect to see bands, dancers, and colorful floats celebrating Ireland’s Patron Saint, and you can treat yourself to some traditional music while you’re at it.
You’ll be working up an appetite celebrating your Irish heritage during the parade, which conveniently passes fairly close by several of our locations, including our Dilworth Plaza location and our waterfront restaurant. After a long day of being Irish, stop on by for an evening of fresh, healthy, and delicious food.
Philadelphia Chocolate, Wine & Whiskey Festival (Saturday, March 28)
Taking place on the main floor of the 23rd Street Armory, this year’s Philly Chocolate, Wine & Whiskey Festival promises to impress. Since you’ll have had your fill of craft beer from earlier in the month, get in touch with your sweeter side with some chocolate and wine.
You can expect more presentations in chocolate than you could shake a stick at – fondues, handcrafted batches of truffles and other artisan chocolates and many more desserts will be waiting for you there. What pairs better with chocolate than wine, which, by the way, comes unlimited with your ticket? Enjoy your favorite vintage in a delectable pairing with the confections you’ll no doubt be enjoying at the show.
For those who believe that desserts pair well with spirits, well, that’s where the ‘whiskey’ portion of the festival comes in. there will be plenty of whiskeys and other spirits there – also unlimited with your ticket.
By the way, you won’t get full eating dessert, and the 23rd Street Armory is conveniently located right near our Roberts Center and University City locations – so after you’ve had your fill of spirits and dessert, come get dinner!
There’s plenty more going on in Philadelphia this March, and a great day of engaging activities is a sure way to build an appetite.
